Engineered with sunlight-resistant XLP insulation, it is specifically approved for direct burial and duct installations, making it the industry standard for reliable underground residential power feeds. 

• The System: Typically used for single-phase 120/240V service.

• Best Use Case: Standard residential service entrances, sub-panel feeds, and outbuilding power where you only need two "hots" and a neutral.

• Why pros love it: It’s the industry standard for most residential setups. It’s easier to handle and pull through conduit because it’s smaller and lighter than its four-conductor counterpart.

What is Quadruplex URD Cable?

Quadruplex URD is a 600V secondary distribution cable consisting of three insulated phase (hot) conductors and one neutral conductor cabled together. Engineered with sunlight-resistant XLP insulation, it is specifically approved for direct burial and duct installations, making it the industry standard for three-phase underground power delivery.

• The System: Used for three-phase 120/208V (or 277/480V) power distribution.

• Best Use Case: Commercial buildings, small industrial workshops, or multi-family residential complexes that require three-phase power for motors, HVAC systems, or industrial machinery.

What is the Right Size Wire for Your Load?

• Conduit Fill: Remember, Quadruplex takes up significantly more space in a conduit than Triplex. Check your NEC conduit fill tables to ensure the conduit size you’ve planned is large enough for the extra phase conductor in a "Quad" assembly.

• Size Matters: If you’re pushing the limits on voltage drop, remember that larger conductors (like 250 kcmil and above) are much harder to pull as Quadruplex. In some cases, pros choose to pull four single conductors instead of one large Quadruplex assembly to make the pull manageable.
