TGGT wire is rated for a continuous operating temperature of 250°C (482°F). It typically carries a 600-Volt rating for standard industrial control and power circuits, though specific UL styles (such as UL 5251 and UL 5256) may carry a 300-Volt rating for lighter applications.

TGGT wire is widely specified for internal wiring in commercial and industrial equipment operating under severe heat. Choose TGGT (250°C) when your high-heat application involves moisture, oils, or chemical exposure, as its PTFE layers create a tight liquid-resistant barrier. Choose MGT (Mica Glass) wire when operating temperatures exceed 250°C (MGT is rated for dry heat up to 450°C or 550°C), though MGT is generally not suited for wet or oil-rich environments.

TGGT wire meets stringent Underwriters Laboratories specifications for high-temperature Appliance Wiring Material (AWM). Common UL styles include UL 5196 (600V, 250°C), UL 5256 (600V, 250°C), UL 5214 (600V, 250°C), UL 5251 (600V, 250°C), and UL 5180 (300V, 200°C/250°C).
