Engineered for harsh industrial and direct-burial applications, 8 AWG 2-Conductor TECK90 Cable delivers complete 1000V circuit protection without installing rigid conduit.

Featuring two stranded copper conductors, a #10 ground, dual PVC jackets, and flexible Aluminum Interlocked Armor (AIA), it is the ultimate direct-burial solution for 55A industrial power circuits, heavy machinery feeds, and cable trays.

Key Features & Benefits: 8/2 TECK90 1000V Cable

  • Dual-Jacket Direct Burial Protection: The inner and outer lead-free PVC jackets isolate the interlocked aluminum armor from moisture, soil chemicals, and mechanical abrasion, allowing direct installation in open trenches or wet raceways.

  • 1000V Heavy-Duty Rating: Built with RW90 XLPE thermoset insulation rated for applications up to 1000V and continuous operating temperatures from -40°C to +90°C in wet or dry locations.

  • High-Conductivity Copper Layout: Features two stranded bare copper circuit conductors (8 AWG) and a 10 AWG bare copper ground wire for reliable grounding and ampacity.

  • Flexible Interlocked Armor (AIA): The aluminum interlocked armor shields internal conductors from physical impacts, crushing, and soil shifts without sacrificing flexibility during tight pulls.

  • Severe Weather & Hazardous Location Approved: Rated for -40°C cold impact and certified for hazardous locations (CSA C22.2 No. 174) and FT4 flame resistance.

8 AWG 2C TECK90 is primarily used for feeding 240V or 208V single-phase industrial equipment, heavy-duty machinery, outdoor lighting circuits, pumps, compressors, and sub-panels requiring up to 55 Amps (at 90°C terminal rating). Because of its dual PVC jackets and interlocked aluminum armor, it is widely installed in cable trays, exposed building runs, direct-burial underground trenches, and harsh chemical or mining facilities.

Yes. TECK90 features an outer PVC jacket over its interlocked aluminum armor that provides complete protection against moisture, soil acidity, and mechanical crushing. It is fully approved for direct burial without requiring separate rigid or PVC conduit, drastically lowering labor and material costs.

While both feature interlocked armor, standard MC cable is designed primarily for dry indoor commercial spaces and is rated for 600V. TECK90 is an industrial-grade cable with two PVC jackets—one underneath the armor and one over the armor and is rated for 1000V. This outer jacket makes TECK90 completely waterproof, sunlight-resistant, and suitable for direct burial and hazardous locations, whereas standard MC cannot be buried or exposed to wet locations without special outer jackets.

Yes. The "8/2" designation refers to the two main insulated 8 AWG circuit conductors (typically Black and Red/White). In addition to the two circuit wires, the cable contains an uninsulated stranded copper grounding conductor sized to code requirements.

TECK90 requires wet-location, explosion-proof, or hazardous-location glands/connectors designed specifically for armored jacketed cable (such as TECK glands or TMC2/TMC series connectors). These glands seal around the outer PVC jacket to maintain a watertight and gas-tight seal at junction boxes and enclosure knockouts.
