Common 6 AWG 2C TECK90 Cable Use Cases

  • Industrial Branch & HVAC Power: Delivers continuous 1000V or 600V single-phase power to industrial heaters, heavy-duty ventilation fans, mid-sized pumps, and automated manufacturing branch circuits.
  • Direct Burial Sub-Feeders: Engineered for direct underground burial in soil trenches without secondary conduit protection, allowing simple, code-approved power runs to remote outbuildings, security gates, or outdoor equipment pads.
  • Petrochemical & Hazardous Environment Routing: Extensively deployed in oil refineries, chemical plants, and grain elevators where its armor design handles the spark containment required for Class I, Division 1 and 2 explosive atmospheres.
  • Corrosive & Wet Facility Installations: Ideal for wastewater treatment facilities, pulp and paper mills, and food processing wash-down regions because its inner and outer PVC jackets block moisture and chemical vapors.
  • Commercial Signage & Infrastructure: Supplies reliable power to heavy commercial outdoor lighting grids, electronic billboards, and localized transport hubs requiring high mechanical protection.

Who Relies on 6 AWG 2C TECK90 Cable?

Commonly Served Industries

  • Oil, Gas, & Chemical Processing: A standard choice for processing plants and oilfield infrastructure installations requiring durable, explosion-proof power links.
  • Mining & Resource Extraction: Widely utilized in surface and underground mining facilities to power auxiliary processing gear, conveyors, and lighting panels under intense physical strain.
  • Heavy Industrial & Infrastructure Construction: Factored into modern manufacturing mills, water treatment projects, and commercial structural layouts where high mechanical shielding is a priority.

Core Professionals & Buyers

  • Industrial Electricians & Electrical Contractors: Field technicians who choose TECK90 to bypass the labor-intensive process of bending rigid conduit and pulling individual wires, pulling a single armored cable run instead.
  • Electrical Engineers & Systems Designers: System specifiers who count on the 1000V-rated Cross-linked Polyethylene (XLPE) core insulation to ensure superior thermal stability and electrical performance under varying production loads.
  • Project Estimators & Industrial Buyers: Supply chain managers who purchase the aluminum interlocked armoring option over steel to lower freight shipping expenses and reduce structural load on overhead ladder trays.
  • Electrical Safety & Code Inspectors: Field regulatory officers who look for compliant grounding configurations via the integrated bonding wire, ensuring safe, explosion-proof performance in specialized hazardous layout locations.

⚠️ The applications listed below are for informational and educational purposes only. Electrical code requirements vary significantly by region. Always consult a licensed electrician and your local building authority to verify compliance with the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) or National Electrical Code (NEC®) for your specific project before purchasing or installing cable.

6/2 TECK90 Cable with Ground is a heavy-duty, 1000V-rated armored cable engineered for 75A single-phase power distribution, subpanels, heavy motors, and industrial machinery. Built with two 6 AWG stranded copper conductors, a #8 bare copper ground, dual PVC jackets, and Aluminum Interlocked Armor (AIA), it provides complete mechanical protection in harsh environments without installing rigid conduit.

  • Voltage & Temperature: 1000V | -40°C to +90°C
  • Ampacity Rating: 75 Amps (per CE Code Part 1, Table 2 @ 90°C)
  • Outer Diameter & Weight: Approx. 1.02 inches OD | 594 lbs per 1,000 ft
  • Insulation & Armor: RW90 XLPE insulation | Flexible Aluminum Interlocked Armor (AIA)

Yes! 6/2 TECK90 is fully CSA certified for direct earth burial in open trenches. Its inner and outer lead-free PVC jackets seal the aluminum armor against moisture, corrosive soil chemicals, ground rot, and mechanical abrasion, eliminating the added labor and material costs of PVC or steel pipe.

While both feature interlocked armor, standard MC cable is designed primarily for dry indoor commercial spaces and is rated for 600V. TECK90 is an industrial-grade cable with two PVC jackets—one underneath the armor and one over the armor and is rated for 1000V. This outer jacket makes TECK90 completely waterproof, sunlight-resistant, and suitable for direct burial and hazardous locations, whereas standard MC cannot be buried or exposed to wet locations without special outer jackets.

Yes. It is certified under CSA C22.2 No. 174 for hazardous locations, meets CSA FT4 flame resistance, and carries a -40°C cold-impact rating for severe outdoor exposures, mines, chemical plants, and wash-down facilities.

Wire America custom cuts 6/2 TECK90 cable to your exact footage requirements so you buy only what your job site requires. Master reels are also available for large commercial projects.

Orders are processed quickly and ship directly from regional distribution hubs, with an estimated delivery of 2 to 4 business days once in transit. If your project estimator, engineer, or inspector requires official cut sheets or technical data sheets for job approval, contact our sales desk directly at 833-268-8644 or email sales@wireamerica.com.
