Redefining installation speed for residential and commercial sub-panel circuits, this Priority-Plex® twisted feeder cable is a game-changer for electrical contractors. By pre-twisting two phase conductors and a dedicated neutral into a single, manageable assembly, it removes the need for manual on-site spinning or complex multi-reel setups, significantly slashing labor costs and reducing the risk of conductor tangling.

Why Choose 2/3C Twisted XHHW-2 Aluminum Feeder?

This 3-conductor twisted configuration (Black, Red, and White) is the professional choice for streamlined secondary service entries. The Priority-Plex® technology ensures the conductors stay tightly bundled throughout the pull, providing a balanced distribution of tension and a smaller footprint within the conduit compared to loose wires.

  • Priority-Plex® Efficiency: Prevents "bird-caging" and eliminates the logistical headache of managing three separate reels for a single circuit.

  • Color-Coded Circuit Identification: Features a Black and Red phase conductor with a dedicated White neutral for rapid, error-free termination at the panelboard.

  • Advanced XHHW-2 Insulation: The cross-linked polyethylene (XLP) coating offers superior resistance to heat, moisture, and environmental abrasion.

  • 8000 Series Aluminum Performance: Provides a lightweight, cost-effective alternative to copper without compromising electrical integrity or long-term reliability.

Technical Specifications: 2/3C Twisted XHHW-2

  • Conductor Size: 2 AWG

This 2 AWG, 3-conductor assembly is a heavy-duty feeder cable typically used to provide power to sub-panels, large appliances (like heat pumps), or light commercial distribution boards. Because it uses XHHW-2 conductors, it is suitable for both wet and dry locations and is commonly pulled through conduit in underground or exposed environments.

Priority-Plex® refers to Belden's specialized manufacturing process where the three conductors are pre-twisted (cabled) together at the factory.

  • Labor Savings: You pull from a single reel rather than managing three separate heavy spools.
  • Tangle-Free: The helical twist prevents "birdcaging," a common issue where wires cross or bunch up in conduit bends.
  • Reduced Friction: The twisted profile minimizes contact with the conduit wall, making the pull significantly lighter than a standard parallel pull.
  • Cost-Efficiency: Aluminum is significantly lighter and more affordable than copper for feeder circuits, making it the industry standard for residential and commercial service entrances.
  • Superior Insulation: XHHW-2 uses XLPE (Cross-Linked Polyethylene). Unlike standard PVC (THHN), XLPE does not melt or deform under extreme heat and is highly resistant to "water treeing" in wet underground conduits.
  • 90°C Rating: It maintains a 90°C rating in both wet and dry locations, providing more overhead for ampacity calculations compared to older insulation types.

According to NEC Table 310.16, the ampacity for 2 AWG Aluminum depends on your terminal temperature ratings:

  • 60°C Terminations: 75 Amps
  • 75°C Terminations: 90 Amps
  • 90°C Terminations: 100 Amps

⚠️ PRO TIP: Most residential and commercial lugs are rated for 75°C. Therefore, even though the wire is 90°C rated, you will typically be limited to 90 Amps for your circuit protection.

Yes we offer XHHW-2 Aluminum Wire in a single conductor from 14 AWG to 1000 MCM in multiple colors by the foot. Shop our single conductor XHHW-2 Collection here.
