This specialized hybrid cable is engineered for 17kW to 24kW home standby generators, which are typically the largest residential units capable of powering an entire home, including multiple air conditioning systems. While smaller generators can use 8 AWG or 4 AWG, these units require the 100-amp capacity provided by 3 AWG copper. This cable bundles the high-current power conductors and the digital signal wires into a single jacket, allowing for a professional, code-compliant installation in a single pull.
The power section of this cable is designed to handle the heavy continuous loads of a 24kW generator without overheating or significant voltage drop.
Modern "smart" transfer switches do more than just flip a switch; they manage loads and monitor engine health.
Unlike standard residential building wire which is often solid, this cable uses high-strand-count annealed copper.
Because standby generators sit outdoors, the cable is built to endure the elements for the life of the machine.
The JP stands for Joist Pull. Certified under NEC 336.10(9) as Type TC-ER-JP, this cable has passed specialized UL laboratory testing for high structural strength and low outer-jacket friction. This means you can legally and smoothly pull this massive composite cable directly through wooden home joists and structural framing without the massive expense and labor of installing rigid conduit pipe.
Yes. The rugged, black outer PVC jacket is fully UL-approved for Direct Burial and is engineered with built-in Sunlight/UV Resistance. It is rated for 90°C wet or dry environments, allowing you to run it directly from inside a basement or utility room, drop it straight into an outdoor trench, and terminate it inside your outdoor generator enclosure or automatic transfer switch (ATS).
