12/2 SJOOW Flexible Cord | 300V

This 12 AWG, 2-conductor portable cord is a "heavy-duty" service cable designed for equipment that draws significant current but does not require a dedicated grounding conductor. It is the specific choice for high-wattage portable heaters, commercial-grade lighting arrays, and large 120V DC/AC motors. By utilizing 12-gauge copper, it provides a massive 25-amp capacity, allowing for longer runs without the voltage drop that can damage sensitive internal components in high-draw machinery.

The SJOOW rating defines a cord engineered to survive mechanical and chemical stress that would destroy standard extension cords.

• Thermoset Rubber Jacket: Unlike thermoplastic (PVC) jackets that melt or "flow" under heat, the CPE rubber jacket on this 12/2 cord is thermoset. It remains stable at high temperatures and will not fuse to itself or other surfaces if it runs hot under a heavy continuous load.
• Junior Service (J): The "J" rating indicates a 300V limit, which allows the cord to maintain a more flexible and manageable diameter than 600V cords. This makes 12/2 SJOOW much easier to coil and navigate around job site obstacles despite its heavy-gauge conductors.
• Maximum Resistance (OOW): The "OO" confirms that both the internal conductor insulation and the outer jacket are oil-resistant, while the "W" ensures it is UL-listed for outdoor moisture and sunlight exposure.

For a heavy-gauge cord to remain "Flexible," the internal metal must be highly resilient.

• Class K Stranding: This cord uses hundreds of fine copper strands twisted together. This allows the thick 12-gauge conductor to bend and twist thousands of times without the metal "work-hardening" or snapping.
• Vibration Resistance: In manufacturing environments where machines create constant micro-vibrations, the stranded copper prevents the wiring from fatiguing at the terminal connections—a common failure point for solid-core building wires.
• Memory-Free Handling: After being stored on a tight reel, 12/2 SJOOW will lay flat almost immediately once unrolled, significantly reducing trip hazards on a shop floor.

This cord contains two color-coded, insulated conductors:

1. Black: Hot (Line)
2. White: Neutral
3. (Note: This is a 2-conductor cord and does not include a green grounding wire. It should only be used for double-insulated tools or specialized 2-wire equipment where a frame ground is not required by the manufacturer.)

This cord is designed to perform in the harshest "real-world" climates:

• Sub-Zero Flexibility: While cheap plastic cords turn brittle in the cold, 12/2 SJOOW remains fully flexible down to -40°C.
• High-Heat Rating: It is rated for continuous use in temperatures up to 90°C, making it safe for use near industrial machinery or in high-ambient-heat environments.
• Chemical Immunity: The jacket is specifically formulated to resist degradation from gasoline, diesel, machine oils, and cleaning solvents, ensuring a long service life in automotive and manufacturing settings.
