Tinning coats each individual strand of pure copper with a micro-thin layer of tin. While bare copper corrodes, oxidizes, and turns green when exposed to moisture, saltwater, or acidic soil, tinning acts as a permanent barrier against corrosion. It dramatically extends the wire's lifespan and prevents oxidation build-up at termination lugs and terminal blocks.
While both conduct electricity efficiently, 7-stranded 2 AWG wire is considerably more flexible. It bends easily around corners, withstands engine/machinery vibration without metal fatigue, and is much simpler to pull through conduit or tie into grounding buses.
