Specifically engineered for high-density control and multi-phase motor applications in extreme thermal zones, this 14 AWG 5-conductor SRG-K assembly provides elite performance where standard cables would degrade. Rated for continuous operation at 200°C, this wire combines high-flexibility stranded copper with a specialized silicone rubber and fiberglass armor system.

Why Choose 14/5 SRG-K High Temp Motor Lead?

SRG-K (Silicone Rubber Glass - K for Kevlar-Fiber) is the industrial standard for "hot-zone" wiring. The 14 AWG gauge offers a perfect balance of significant current-carrying capacity and a compact outer diameter. The 5-conductor configuration is highly versatile, commonly used for 3-phase motor leads requiring a dedicated neutral and ground, or for complex sensor feedback loops in thermal processing equipment.

  • Elite Thermal Resilience: Rated for continuous service up to 200°C, ensuring electrical integrity in proximity to industrial burners, heating elements, and high-efficiency motors.

  • High-Flexibility Stranding: Utilizes fine-stranded Class K tinned copper conductors, allowing the cable to be easily routed through tight enclosures and conduit bends without work-hardening or conductor fatigue.

  • Silicone & Fiberglass Shielding: The silicone rubber insulation provides superior dielectric strength and moisture resistance, while the lacquered fiberglass braid provides essential abrasion resistance and prevents the silicone from tearing during installation.

  • Tinned Copper Conductors: The tin coating on the copper strands prevents oxidation and corrosion, which is accelerated in high-heat environments, ensuring long-term termination reliability.

This 14 AWG, 5-conductor wire is a specialized industrial cable designed for the internal wiring of motors, appliances, and high-heat processing equipment. Unlike standard portable cords that melt at 90°C, SRG-K is engineered to operate continuously at 200°C (392°F). It is the specific requirement for environments where high ambient temperatures and electrical heat generation would cause standard insulation to become brittle, crack, or catch fire.

The SRG-K designation refers to a high-performance "Silicone-Rubber-Glass" composite construction:

  • Silicone Rubber Insulation: The primary insulation is a thick layer of silicone, which maintains its dielectric strength and flexibility at extreme temperature ranges (both high and low).
  • K (K-Type Glass Braid): The "K" signifies a tightly woven fiberglass braid over the silicone. This braid provides essential mechanical protection, preventing the soft silicone from tearing or abrading when pulled through motor housings.
  • Synthetic Finish: The fiberglass is typically saturated with a high-temperature finish to bind the fibers together, making the wire easier to strip and preventing fraying during termination.

Since this wire is often used in the lead-heads of large motors, flexibility and vibration resistance are critical.

  • High Flexibility: By using Class K stranded tinned copper, the 14-gauge conductors can be routed through the tight, intricate pathways of a motor stator or generator housing without kinking.
  • Corrosion Resistance: The copper strands are tinned, which protects the metal from oxidation—a common issue in high-heat environments where copper reacts with the surrounding atmosphere.
  • Vibration Tolerance: Motor leads are subject to constant mechanical oscillation. Stranded wire prevents the metal-fatigue failure that would occur with solid-core wire.

A 5-conductor configuration (14/5C) in this heat class is typically used for complex machinery requiring more than simple power delivery:

  • Multi-Speed Motors: Providing multiple taps for speed control in high-heat ventilation or industrial blowers.
  • Reversing Motors: Allowing for the extra leads necessary to reverse the rotation of a motor in a kiln or furnace.
  • Sensor Integration: Running three power phases along with two conductors for high-temperature thermal sensors (thermistors) to monitor the motor's internal temperature.
  • Commercial Ovens & Kilns: Internal wiring for heating elements and control circuits in industrial food processing or ceramics.

14/5C SRG-K is built to survive where others fail:

  • Temperature Range: Rated for continuous operation from -60°C to 200°C.
  • Voltage Rating: Typically rated for 600 Volts, making it suitable for standard industrial power and control voltages.
  • Chemical Resistance: Highly resistant to ozone, UV radiation, and many industrial chemicals, though the fiberglass braid should be protected from direct contact with liquid oils if they are not specifically rated for it.
