Specifically engineered for extreme thermal environments, this 12 AWG 7-conductor SRG-K assembly is the definitive solution for high-temperature motor leads and industrial heating controls. Rated for continuous operation at 200°C, this wire features high-flexibility stranded conductors protected by a dual-layer silicone rubber and fiberglass braid system, ensuring electrical integrity where standard cords would fail.

Why Choose 12/7 SRG-K High Temp Motor Lead?

SRG-K (Silicone Rubber Glass - K-Fiber for Strength) is designed to thrive in the "hot zones" of industrial machinery. The 12 AWG gauge provides robust current-carrying capacity, while the 7-conductor configuration allows for complex multi-phase motor wiring or bundled control signals within a single high-heat assembly.

  • Extreme Thermal Endurance: Rated for continuous use up to 200°C, making it ideal for leads on high-efficiency motors, commercial ovens, and industrial furnaces.

  • Superior Flexibility (Class K): Utilizes high-strand count copper, allowing the conductors to be routed through tight conduits and around sharp bends in thermal equipment without work-hardening.

  • Dual-Layer Protection: The silicone rubber insulation provides excellent dielectric strength and moisture resistance, while the lacquered fiberglass braid offers superior abrasion resistance and protection against mechanical stress.

  • Specialized Color Coding: Features a 7-color identification system (including the Red/Black stripe) for precise circuit mapping in complex control environments.

This 12 AWG, 7-conductor wire is a high-performance industrial cable designed for the most demanding thermal environments. Rated for continuous operation at 200°C (392°F), it is the specific choice for the internal wiring of large electric motors, industrial furnaces, and glass-working machinery. While standard cables would melt or harden under these conditions, SRG-K maintains its electrical integrity and flexibility, preventing catastrophic system failures in high-heat zones.

The SRG-K architecture is a tiered defense system against heat and mechanical stress:

  • Silicone Rubber (SR): Each 12 AWG conductor is encased in premium silicone rubber. This material is chosen for its exceptional dielectric strength and its ability to remain flexible from -60°C to 200°C.
  • Fiberglass Braid (G): Each individual conductor, and often the overall cable assembly, features a tightly woven fiberglass braid. This prevents the silicone from "flowing" or tearing under pressure.
  • K-Type Finish (K): The "K" refers to a specialized high-temperature lacquer or synthetic finish applied to the glass braid. This prevents the glass fibers from fraying, improves abrasion resistance, and makes the wire easier to pull through tight motor housings.

A 7-conductor cable at 12 AWG provides significant power capacity alongside multiple control pathways:

  • Multi-Phase Power + Control: Often used to run 3-phase power ($L_1, L_2, L_3$) plus a neutral and three dedicated lines for thermal sensors (thermistors) or brake controls.
  • Redundancy: In mission-critical furnace applications, the extra conductors allow for backup signal paths in case of mechanical damage to a single core.
  • Stepper & Servo Motors: Ideal for high-torque motors in heated environments that require multiple leads for phase-stepping and position feedback.

At 200°C, standard bare copper oxidizes rapidly, leading to increased resistance and eventual connection failure.

  • Tinned Protection: Each copper strand is coated in a layer of tin. This creates a barrier against oxidation and corrosion, which is vital in high-temperature or high-humidity environments.
  • Class K Flexibility: By using a high-strand-count (Class K) construction, the 12-gauge conductors are surprisingly supple. This allows for easier routing in the cramped wiring boxes of industrial motors.
  • Vibration Resistance: Motor leads are subject to constant oscillation. Stranded wire prevents "work-hardening," ensuring the leads don't snap due to the mechanical stress of a running motor.

12/7 SRG-K is engineered to perform where standard industrial cables fail:

  • Voltage Rating: 600 Volts, making it suitable for standard industrial power and control circuits.
  • Chemical Resistance: The silicone and glass construction is highly resistant to ozone, UV radiation, and many industrial chemicals.
  • Flame Retardancy: This wire is inherently flame-retardant and will not support combustion, a critical safety feature for wiring inside kilns, ovens, and dryers.

What exactly is that 'fuzzy' braid on the outside of the wire?

That is a specialized fiberglass jacket. Think of the silicone underneath as the "skin" that keeps the electricity in, and the fiberglass as the "armor." Because silicone is soft and can be easily torn, the fiberglass braid protects it from being scraped or cut when you're pulling it through the tight metal parts of a motor or oven.
