While this wire can certainly handle the heat, it is usually overkill for a standard home oven. It is designed for industrial-grade machinery that runs 24/7 at high temperatures, like a commercial pizza oven, a factory kiln, or a large manufacturing motor.
It is rated for 200°C (392°F). While it is incredibly heat-resistant, it should not be wrapped directly around a glowing heating element. It is designed to live in the "hot zone" around the heaters or inside the motor housing where standard wires would fail.
The name SRG-K describes a layered "armor" system designed to protect the electricity from intense heat:
This 12 AWG, 5-conductor wire is a specialized cable built to survive where standard wiring would literally melt. Rated for continuous operation at 200°C (392°F), it is the specific choice for wiring industrial ovens, commercial fryers, and high-performance motors. By providing five heavy-duty 12-gauge conductors, this cable allows you to run 3-phase power plus extra leads for sensors or grounding in a single, heat-proof assembly.
Because of the "K" finish (the high-temp coating), this wire is much less "itchy" than raw fiberglass. The coating binds the fibers together so they don't flake off into your skin or the machine, making it much more professional and easier to handle than older styles of high-temp wire.
