SRML stands for Silicone Rubber Motor Lead wire. It is specifically designed for the high-vibration and high-heat conditions found inside industrial motors and heavy appliances.
For 1 AWG SRML, the minimum bend radius is 4.26 inches. Because of the high strand count (259 strands), this wire is much easier to manipulate in tight junction boxes than standard 1 AWG building wire, which is significantly stiffer.
Yes. 1 AWG SRML is frequently used in foundries and smelting plants because the silicone insulation and fiberglass braid are designed to withstand the extreme radiant heat and abrasive conditions common in those facilities.
The main difference is Temperature and Material. SRML (200°C) is highly flexible due to its silicone rubber insulation. TGGT (250°C) is rated for higher heat but is generally less flexible because it uses Teflon and glass tapes instead of extruded rubber.
Standard THHN wire is rated for only 90°C. Our 200°C SRML can handle more than double the thermal load, preventing the insulation from melting or becoming brittle in "hot zones" where standard wire would fail almost immediately.
1 AWG SRML Wire carries an ampacity rating of 285 amps.
