UF-B Direct Burial Feeder Wire

UF-B (Underground Feeder) cable is a specialized 600V electrical conductor designed specifically for outdoor use and direct burial in the earth. While it resembles standard indoor NM-B cable in its flat profile, UF-B features a rugged, sunlight-resistant, and moisture-proof gray PVC jacket that is fused directly around the individual conductors. This unique construction eliminates internal air voids, preventing moisture from traveling along the cable and allowing it to be installed underground without the need for protective conduit. Each cable assembly contains color-coded, heat-resistant THHN/THWN conductors and a bare copper grounding wire, providing a safe and durable power solution for remote outdoor structures and landscape power needs.

Key Features
  • Direct Burial Rated: Specifically engineered to be buried directly in a trench, significantly reducing material costs by eliminating the need for PVC conduit.
  • Moisture & Corrosion Resistant: The solid PVC bedding protects conductors from soil acidity, rot, and constant moisture exposure.
  • Sunlight Resistant (UV): Encased in a heavy-duty gray jacket formulated to withstand prolonged exposure to direct sunlight without cracking or degrading.
  • High-Heat Insulation: Internal conductors are rated for 90°C, though ampacity is limited to the 60°C conductor temperature for safety compliance.
  • Integrated Grounding: Includes a full-sized bare copper grounding conductor to ensure circuit safety in outdoor environments.
  • Code Compliance: Manufactured to meet UL Standard 493 and fully compliant with NEC Article 340 for Underground Feeder and Branch-Circuit Cable.
Common Applications
  • Outbuilding Power Feeders: The primary choice for running electricity from a main house to a detached garage, shed, or workshop.
  • Outdoor Lighting Circuits: Used to power post lights, security floodlights, and decorative yard illumination.
  • Lamppost Wiring: Frequently utilized for the underground run from a residential panel to a driveway or garden lamppost.
  • Submersible Pump Power: Reliable for providing power to well pumps and water feature motors in damp locations.
  • HVAC Condenser Feeder: Often used for the outdoor portion of the power run to air conditioning units and heat pumps.
  • Detached Guest House Wiring: Provides a code-compliant underground feeder for smaller secondary dwellings or "ADUs."
  • Remote Receptacle Installation: Ideal for installing outdoor-rated GFCI outlets in gardens, near pools, or along fences.
