DIRECT BURIAL WIRE AND CABLE

Our Direct Burial Wire and Cable products are specifically engineered to be installed underground without the protection of a continuous conduit system. Unlike standard building wire, these products feature a specialized, ruggedized outer jacket—typically made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) or moisture-resistant PVC—that is designed to withstand constant exposure to soil acidity, moisture, and mechanical pressure. From delivering power to remote residential outbuildings to wiring utility-scale solar farms and landscape lighting, direct burial cables eliminate the cost and labor of pipe-and-wire installations. Whether you require Aluminum MHF for mobile homes, Copper UF-B for branch circuits, or specialized USE-2 for service entrances, our collection provides the durability needed for long-term subterranean performance. DIRECT BURIAL WIRE AND CABLE

Direct burial wire and cable are specialized electrical conductors engineered for underground installation without the need for a continuous conduit or raceway. Unlike standard indoor building wire, these cables feature a ruggedized, sunlight-resistant outer jacket—typically constructed from high-density polyethylene (HDPE) or moisture-proof PVC—designed to withstand soil acidity, constant moisture, and mechanical pressure. By eliminating the need for expensive pipe-and-wire systems, direct burial cables significantly reduce labor and material costs for various residential, commercial, and utility projects. Whether you are searching for Aluminum MHF for mobile home services, Copper UF-B for outdoor branch circuits, or USE-2/RHH/RHW-2 for secondary service entrances, our collection provides the industrial-grade durability required for reliable, long-term subterranean performance.

Installation Note: According to NEC Table 300.5, the standard burial depth for most direct burial cables is 24 inches, though this may vary to 18 inches if the cable is protected by a 2-inch concrete pad or installed in specific residential branch circuits. To ensure the longest lifespan for your cable, always bed the trench with 3 to 4 inches of clean sand to prevent sharp rocks from puncturing the jacket during backfilling. We also strongly recommend installing electrical warning tape 12 inches above the cable to alert future excavators.

Key Features
  • Conduit-Free Installation: Specifically rated for "Direct Burial," allowing for a streamlined installation process directly in an earthen trench.
  • Corrosion & Moisture Resistance: Advanced jacket compounds prevent water "wicking" and protect internal conductors from soil-based electrolysis and rot.
  • High-Impact Durability: Features a reinforced insulation profile engineered to handle the physical weight of earth backfill and external mechanical stress.
  • UV & Sunlight Protection: Dual-rated for outdoor exposure, ensuring the cable will not crack or degrade when transitioning from underground to overhead equipment.
  • Versatile Conductor Alloys: Available in lightweight 8000-series aluminum for high-amperage service runs or high-conductivity copper for smaller gauge circuits.
  • NEC & UL Compliant: All products meet rigorous UL 493 (UF), UL 854 (USE), or UL 1277 (TC) standards for underground safety.
Common Applications
  • Residential Service Entrances: Connecting main electrical panels to outdoor meter sockets or utility-owned pedestals.
  • Detached Outbuilding Power: Delivering reliable 120V/240V power to workshops, garages, sheds, and agricultural barns.
  • Landscape & Perimeter Lighting: Powering low-voltage and line-voltage security lights, path lighting, and decorative yard features.
  • Automatic Irrigation Systems: Providing a durable connection between central timers and remote solenoid valves in wet soil.
  • Ground-Mount Solar Arrays: Routing high-voltage DC power from photovoltaic strings to central inverters and combiner boxes.
  • Submersible Well Pumps: Supplying constant power to deep-well motors and water filtration systems in damp locations.
  • Electric Vehicle (EV) Chargers: Running dedicated circuits to outdoor charging stations and detached parking structures.
