"The industry standard for maximum-capacity 600V single-phase overhead utility drops, heavy commercial service entrances, and primary temporary power distribution requiring 19-strand phase conductors and a full-size neutral messenger. Engineered for dependable 600V aerial power delivery from utility lines to building weatherheads, this 3-conductor triplex cable features two 336.4 MCM insulated aluminum phase conductors, heavy-duty weather-resistant XLP insulation, and a matching bare 336.4 MCM steel-reinforced ACSR neutral messenger built to withstand extreme environmental strain."

Key Features & Benefits: 336.4 MCM Triplex Overhead Service Drop Cable

The 336.4 MCM Limpet Triplex Cable is designed for industrial and commercial-grade overhead secondary power distribution requiring maximum ampacity and a full-size neutral conductor to handle heavy unbalanced loads or utility specifications. Designed to span long overhead distances from utility pole transformers to service masts, it provides a high-capacity, sag-resistant solution for heavy-duty service drops and temporary construction power feeds.

By pairing two 19-strand 1350-H19 series 336.4 MCM aluminum phase conductors with a heavy-duty 336.4 MCM 18/1 ACSR neutral messenger, Limpet triplex delivers 420-amp capacity with 8,680 lbs of mechanical break strength. The extra-thick 80-mil cross-linked polyethylene (XLP) insulation offers superior protection against severe UV rays, freezing rain, and harsh industrial environments.

  • 600V Heavy Industrial Aerial Reliability: Rated for continuous 600V max aerial service at conductor temperatures up to 90°C with XLP insulation.

  • Full-Size 18/1 ACSR Messenger: Features a matching 336.4 MCM steel-reinforced ACSR neutral messenger delivering 8,680 lbs of breaking strength to prevent sag and withstand severe ice, wind, and extreme span loads.

  • Extra-Thick 80-Mil Weather-Resistant XLP: Heavy-duty black cross-linked polyethylene insulation prevents UV degradation, cracking, and moisture damage in severe outdoor environments.

  • Cut to Length by the Foot: Order only the exact span length needed for your project, eliminating jobsite waste and unused spools.

336.4 MCM Triplex cable is designed for heavy-duty 600V aerial power delivery. It features two 19-strand 336.4 MCM insulated phase conductors and one full-size 336.4 MCM bare ACSR neutral messenger, making it an ideal choice for running large commercial or industrial 400A overhead service drops from utility poles to weatherheads where a full neutral is required.

Triplex contains 3 conductors (2 insulated phase wires + 1 bare neutral) for single-phase power delivery. Duplex contains only 2 conductors (1 insulated phase wire + 1 bare neutral) for single 120V circuits or outdoor lighting.

No. Triplex service drop wire is engineered strictly for overhead aerial applications. Its XLP insulation is weather- and sunlight-resistant for outdoor exposure, but it is not rated for direct burial or underground conduit installation. For underground service runs, use URD cable or USE-2 wire.

336.4 MCM Triplex with XLPE insulation is rated for up to 420 Amps in free-air overhead installations at a 90°C conductor rating. Always consult NEC Table 310.17 / local code requirements and equipment terminal ratings to ensure proper sizing for your project.

Yes! At Wire America, all overhead service drop cables are custom cut to your exact required length—eliminating extra spools and wasted footage. Simply enter your required footage at checkout, and we’ll cut, process, and ship your order directly to your shop or job site from our regional distribution centers located throughout the US. network. Standard orders typically arrive within 2–4 business days, with expedited shipping options available at checkout.
