The 2/0-3C Type P Marine Shipboard Power Cable is a heavy-duty, multi-conductor industrial power cable engineered to survive the absolute worst conditions found on the open ocean. It features three massive 2/0 AWG (pronounced "two-ought") circuit conductors and is rated for dual-voltage service at 600V and 1kV (1000V). The "Type P" designation represents its compliance with the strict IEEE 1580 standard, utilizing a chemically cross-linked polyolefin (XLPO) insulation that resists aggressive drilling muds, salt spray, high humidity, and intense mechanical vibration.

While it possesses incredible moisture resistance and easily handles constant wave wash-downs, splashing, and heavy deck downpours, it is classified as a Shipboard Power Cable, not a "Submarine Cable." It is not engineered to live permanently under high pressure at the bottom of the ocean. For continuous underwater submersion, specialized subsea cables with water-blocking gel fillers are required.

Yes. When running an unarmored cable through a bulkhead (a ship's structural wall) or into an electrical enclosure, you must use Marine Bulkhead Terminal Glands. Because this is the unarmored version, you do not need complex grounding glands, but you must use "Liquid-Tight" compression glands that clamp tightly around the smooth outer jacket to maintain the watertight integrity of the room or electrical panel.

Wire America ships all of our 2/0-3C Type P Marine Shipboard Power Cable directly from our centralized fulfillment centers throughout the United States. We are able to cut to length, process, and ship your order within 1–2 business days and ship straight to your job site, shipyard, commercial, or residential property. Most standard orders arrive at your doorstep within 2 to 4 business days, with expedited shipping options available at checkout.

This high-capacity, unarmored marine cable is the industry baseline for infrastructure wiring across offshore oil drilling rigs, jack-up platforms, FPSO vessels, and commercial cargo ships. Common heavy-power applications include:

  • Main Power Distribution: Supplying primary electrical feeds from shipboard generators to main switchboards and distribution panels.
  • Heavy Machinery Feeders: Powering high-demand systems such as large mud pumps, top drives, drawworks, thrusters, and deck winches.
  • Engine Room Infrastructure: Routing power through dense, high-temperature bulkhead environments where space and flexibility are premium requirements.
  • Corrosive Marine Environments: Any onboard application where a heavy-gauge power run is exposed to harsh chemical wash-downs or continuous marine elements.
